ExecTec on Info
Knowledge is power.
Once upon the time those of us geeky enough to be in the know had relatively exclusive access to online information resources.
I remember getting an Associated Press feed while working on a television show and getting to join and elite group of people who knew things before anyone else.
Today information is everywhere and coming from every direction.
So with the edge of exclusive and early access to information gone what is the key to managing all of the information and focusing on what is valuable?
Access is no longer the key.
Step one is to manage information accelerators. Things like email, IM, Twitter, Facebook all accelerate and multiply information flow. They are fire-hoses of information which can and do contain vital information but handled poorly they are bad things.
It is very likely that you spend 26% of your time managing your information rather using it productively.
Step two is focusing on tools and methods that curate your information and provide you with flexible choices as to how you access information.
You want access to the information when you need it without having to dig through information clutter.
So let’s explore how to tame the info beast so that once again we are the master of the resource and not slaves to it.
As always, there is no better way to meet and connect with other executives then over dinner and conversation. $21 in advance via PayPal or $25 at the event gets you a full dinner, drink and the best networking around.
