D'Amore's Pizza Connection on Westwood (map)
As you well know for me it is all about networking in an organic manner that forms strong relationships that are the basis of a professional support network that enables people to get things done.
Obviously over the last 5 years plus I have covered many aspects of networking for professionals. So looking through past topics I picked out a few about networking that have been very popular.
Back in May 2008 we covered a unique topic on Social Maps which looked at where people are spending their time networking and expanding their online presence. Executives often look at where and how they spend their time and this is often a specific exercise that key executive look at to maximize their efforts of them selves and their staffs. However we do not spend a fraction of the time helping executives learn where and how to network. This is what makes Ben Ullman's map and the others social maps so interesting. What we found in 2008 was that many of the executive knew of some of these sites and tools but not the interaction of map of their networking efforts.
Last March we discussed my three laws of networking:
Law 1
Your networking connectivity will remain un-changed unless some action/force is taken to change that status.
Law 2
The force of and required of ones network effort is equal to the mass of that network multiplied by the acceleration of that network.
Law 3
For every networking action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Now some may argue that this is a simple and blatant rip off of the laws of physics, however I argued there is no real difference and while we can all take the rules of physics for granted we none the less understand them inherently while the rules of networking are less well known or understood. This drove thoughts and conversation about basic and not so basic methods that are critical to networking. I can not express how many people do not have a photo on their profile or even a one line bio on their twitter page that engages the reader or potential person looking to interact. Lastly, it is not enough to exist in a network once must participate and have presence.
With a more traditional base,we covered a topic I called Networking 201. If developing a network is Networking 101 then Networking 201 is what to do with the network you have. Basic thoughts and rules but things that are important in the networking process.
While these were several specifically popular topics, there are were lots more like Getting Real Value out of Social Networking, Networking Online, Linkedin, What is the Value of your Network and Social Networking.
Come out and join us we explore networking and the real way to develop a deep productive network.
As always, there is no better way to meet and connect with other executives then over dinner and conversation. $21 in advance via PayPal or $25 at the event gets you a full dinner, drink and the best networking around.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
