D'Amore's Pizza Connection on Westwood (map)
Face it these are three areas that challenge many executives. There is no better evidence then the plethora of tools, systems and philosophies that exist for these three semi connected elements.
One might imagine a world where one could layout ones work tasks while keeping firmly in mind the resources inherent in their connections (both internally and externally) and then utilize a seamless low/no friction collaboration tool to make it all come together.
A nice idea but unfortunately not really a reality. None the less the need to know your what resources exist in your network and company in context of your tasks so that you can effectively work together is the crux of many of our work life problems.
The mastery of any one of these items is enough for some but when you look at the truly great executive, I think you will find that they have found away to master all three.
I personally tend to struggle with task management and I am always trying to refine or discover some way of not being overwhelmed by the to do list. However I am very good at managing my connections and knowing where to the find the right person or resource. I am also good with collaboration and have made good use of a number of the collaboration tools to maximize the efforts of myself and others.
What are your strengths and challenges when it comes to these day to day elements of business?
Are connections and resource just that which is simply at hand at the time? Do you manage your task or are you waiting for the next fire to walk in the door? Do you feel it is simpler to just get it done yourself rather then coordinate with others?
So bring your favorite tips, tools and ideas and join us as we explore leveraging these key daily elements to make ourselves happier and better executives.
To facilitate the discussion and start the collaboration feel free to put some of your ideas and favorite tools as comments on the bottom of this topic.
As always, there is no better way to meet and connect with other executives then over dinner and conversation. $21 in advance via PayPal or $25 at the event gets you a full dinner, drink and the best networking around.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
I must say that Evernote (www.evernote.com) which allows keeping tagging and sharing notes is one of my favorite tools. Also if you have not collaborated on a spreadsheet, document or presentation via Google docs (docs.google.com) you are missing out on an experience which is really a game changer.
