 e can not simply collect members of their network like so many baseball car
 ds.\n\nSo here is a syllabus for Networking 201:\n\nAlways deliver more val
 ue then you get.\nTop networkers are not in it just for what they can get o
 ut of it for themselves.\n\nKeep current with the people in your network.\n
 One must stay in contact more often then when they have occasions to need t
 o access their network.\n\nFollow-up\, Follow-up\, Follow-up\nDon't connect
  and not follow through. A good initial connection should lead to some foll
 ow-up.\n\nDon't take your connections for granted.\nTreating your connectio
 ns like a means to an end or as just one of many will break down rather the
 n build up your value in their eyes.\n\nGranting access to your network add
 s to your networking value\, it does not devalue it.\nDo not make the mista
 ke of keeping score. This not about trading favors but rather about everyon
 e doing the most they can for everyone.\n\nOffer up aid even when it is not
  looked for or requested.\nMembers of your network should not need to ask f
 or your aid. If you perceive a need you should offer any aid at you can.\n\
 nSometimes the answer is no and that is OK too.\nJust because you feel some
 one could or should be of aid it is ok if they decline with good reason.\n\
